As seasoned veterans of the local scene, Yan Yuzon (vocals and guitars), Chad Rialp (bass and vocals), and Wendell Garcia (drums) render an incendiary live act of raw energy and masterful improvisation. Riding on the jet stream of their critically-acclaimed debut album Travel Advisory, ironically released in Sept. 11, 2009, Archipelago swept the local scene with their eclecticism and musicality. A solid first effort, Travel Advisory went on to produce five number one singles, propelled by its compelling personal sense of travel and narrative, drawing from influences as diverse as the islands the band inhabits. PULP Magazine gave it four out of five, stating: “Travel Advisory is a first-rate album, one that satisfies all the way through...” The CD's first two singles, M.R.I and May 1, immediately took flight, both topping NU107's Stairway to Seven, with M.R.I garnering local and regional recognition -- including Malaysia’s Asia Voice Independent Music Awards (AVIMA) and Junk Magazine’s Junksounds¬¬ --, setting the band on a course toward becoming the premier indie-rock ensemble. The band couldn't wait to leave the runway. In the first quarter of 2010, Archipelago released their third chart-topping single Black Box and landed the Favorite Indie Artist award at the Myx Music Awards; held by the biggest music channel in the country. Amidst the traffic of nationally televised broadcasts, live radio performances, and a busy tour schedule, the band launched Gaan, whose music video went on to chart as high as number eight on the Pinoy Myx Countdown, and soaring to number four on Channel V’s Bente Uno. Lumapit became the band's fifth consecutive number one single, holding on to the top spot and making history as the last number one song on the now defunct Home of NuRock.
And the journey continues. Archipelago now charts a course to traverse even more borders as they continue to navigate the music scene and explore new frontiers to bring its music to the world stage. So recline your seats and enjoy the flight.
